I'm reading this great page2 article on espn.com.  Here's an excerpt:

(the author is saying people treat kobe like a rambo-sytle hero:  RamKo-be)

You'll hear all about it tonight on ABC as the Lakers and Spurs resume a series that's deadlocked at 2-2. You'll see the footage of Kobe Bryant in business attire, entering a not-guilty plea. You'll see him get into a chauffeured SUV, get whisked to an airport, enter another chauffeured vehicle and emerge at the Staples Center dressed as RamKo. All the while, several narrators and commentators will gush about RamKo's mental strength.

No one will comment about the absurdity and the stupidity of the situation.

Not once will you hear anyone speak this truth: "Man, it's a damn shame that Kobe Bryant is putting himself, his teammates, his fans and his family through all of this crap. Wow. As good as he played Tuesday, just think: If the idiot hadn't stepped out on his wife and slept with a teenage woman he didn't know, he might have been even better Tuesday night. Or maybe the Lakers would be winning this series and wouldn't find themselves in so much turmoil. But these are the dangers of a high-profile, married man sleeping with a teenager he's only known for 30 minutes. You might catch a case and wind up on national TV looking like Boo-Boo the Fool."

That captures the sad reality of RamKo's existence. RamKo isn't Martin Luther King Jr. writing a letter from an Alabama jail. RamKo isn't a victim. His teammates are victims. His fans are victims. Hell, I feel like a victim myself, being forced to listen to and read the glowing accounts of RamKo's heroism.

RamKo is not Pat Tillman. There's nothing heroic about fighting rape allegations by day and playing basketball by night. Nothing.

Most people accused of sexual assault don't get the benefit of 20,000 supporters showering them with love just hours after a court appearance.

1:48 AM working on CS194 for tomorrow's demo.  Demo...yeah...right...we're going to demo...

I was reading psots at slashdot.org the other day and they were discussing snail-mail spam.
Someone suggested that each time you get a piece of junk mail where they want you to respond (and have included a postage paid envelope) that you tear up whatever form they've given you without filling it out and put the shreds into the postage paid envelope and mail it back to them.  Costs them AT LEAST 37 cents more (in postage) + money to pay someone to open the letter.
I read that and thought it was the greatest idea I had seen in MONTHS.  So, A FRIEND OF MINE has been trying this for the last three weeks.  I think this person has mailed back ~15 envelopes to credit card companies.  What fun!

The other day I missed lunch with Eddie, so I went and got him a BUNCH of flowers.  I placed them on his desk along with a note saying "I'm sorry baby, come back to me."

My significant other is great.  (not Eddie, Jea-Hyoun)

The following text was posted on slashdot.org this afternoon.  It's funny, but it's also sad and true.  It's also been (slightly) edited by me for examination by non-technophiles.

Someone previously said: We'd all like to be doing what we love to do, but sometimes we learn to grow by doing what makes us more money and ultimately more leisure time to spend with friends and family.

Participation in the dog-eat-dog struggle is almost entirely unnecessary for most people. The poverty level in Western countries exceeds the upper middle class of most other countries.

One could, if one were willing to give up one's lifestyle, live cheaply and have leisure time for friends and family in abundance. A trailer home in Kentucky can be had for $1000, and a diet of ground beef, flour, spices and vegetables can sustain a family for less than $5000 a year.

You are not working for leisure time, don't kid yourself. Almost any working American today could retire and move to a 3rd world country and live comfortably forever. You are working for DSL (fast internet), the new Radeon (a fast computer part), that huge TV, the laptop, your spiffy car, fancy dinners, nice clothes and every other element required to 'keep up with the Joneses'. You find those things more valuable than pursuit of what you love, if you are not doing what you love.

I'm amazed that people read these things.

I have my first job interview tomorrow.  The company is called Plaxo.  It's a startup in Mountain View.  Check them out:
www.plaxo.com

I'm also amazed that this quarter I'm not taking a single class that I have the slightest interest in taking.

Class wishlist:
CS240
CS155
CS241

Actually taking list:
194
GER
Filler Units

At least my section for the GER class is amuzing.  There's a girl in my section who has the EXACT personality of Grace K. Lee.  Who could have imagined?

I suppose this is my first actual blog entry.

Hi Eun-Sang...
